General, unofficial information

hortyard is an independent site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government agency or to any organization named on the site. Figures, dates and other data are unofficial copies or estimates for general information only. Nothing on the site is financial, tax, legal, medical or safety advice. Always check the official source before you rely on a number. Frost dates are probabilities from past weather records, not forecasts; a frost can come after the average date. Zones are our own calculation from NOAA data, not the official USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map. Planting and pruning times are general guidance; your local extension office has the final word. Calculator results are estimates; confirm quantities with your supplier.

Data sources and attribution

Frost dates and winter lows: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020 and Global Summary of the Year, public domain (17 U.S.C. 105). Town and postal code points: U.S. Census Bureau Gazetteer Files 2024, public domain. Crop timing: facts compiled from U.S. university extension publications, rewritten in our own words and linked on each page. The full list is on the sources page. Naming an agency or a data set does not mean it endorses this site.

Intellectual property

The site design, code and text belong to SV HUB S.R.L., except for the data and components listed on the sources page, which are used under their own licenses. You may link to any page. You may not copy the site or use automated tools that put heavy load on our server.
